I don’t really get all the negative remarks after the first Dolly Party. Trust me, I’m a born pessimist and if it was bad I would be the first to say. But I honestly thought it was a great party. The main complaint is about the too small location, resulting in an overcrowded dance floor. (Where have I heard that before?) But come on: that’s part of the charm of these kinds of parties. I liked the location rather a lot, actually. No almost-dark-room for a change, but white walls and a wooden floor instead. OK, the bar service was very slow, which is annoying; especially when all the fags around you are sweating like mad. But that is something you can’t really foresee for a first party. It’s hard to make an estimate of how many people will turn up and obviously there were way more people than expected. But the most important thing about a party is the music, and I could be a bit biased, but I thought The Lizard did great. I danced until my legs couldn’t take it anymore and that’s pretty rare. So, I can’t but conclude that the real problem was the people present. It must be an Antwerp-thing because I’m sure that Dolly in Ghent would have met a much warmer welcome. Power to the Tits.
